This picture is NOT a good example of a picture that will show us the weather.

What's missing???
We can't see the sky! The sky is important to see when we observe the weather because it tells us if there is precipitation and how many clouds are in the sky.

What is good about this picture is that we can tell the season is FALL by the leaves on the ground. Another clue is that the leaves are not green, they are YELLOW!
This picture is an example of what a good picture would look like. You can see the sky poking through and notice that it is cloudy.

We can tell the season is FALL because the leaves on the trees have changed colors and have fallen to the ground.

From the picture we can observe that there is no precipitation happening currently.
